13 Dancers From Nrityakala Academy Awarded Nrityashree International Award


KOKRAJHAR, NOV 8: A total 13 promising dancers from Nrityakala Academy, Kokrajhar have been achieved Nrityashree international award in a online dancing competition organised amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation across the country.

The online second international and 6th instrumental music and dance competition in connection with Sanskriti Sangam-2020 was held in September month last where large numbers of participants participated in the dancing across the world including India country which was organised by North East Vision, Guwahati, Assam.

The award winners showcased their best dancing talents on various dancing categories during the competition that attracted spectators which led them to win awards in the online dancing competition.

Notably, there are over 400 students in Nrityakala Academy, Kokrajhar which was founded in 1999 to train dance among the generation on various categories of the dancing.

The award winning dancing talents are included Jane Dey (Rabindra Nritya), Ismita Sharma (Bengali folk dance), Priyanka Dutta (Kathak dance), Fungja Brahma (Semiclassical dance),  Niharika Roy (Kathak dance), Manisha Debnath (Bengali folk dance), Nitumoni Barman (Koch Rajbongshi folk dance), Sita Basumatary (Bodo folk dance), Debolina Saha (Semiclassical dance), Deepamoni Devi (creative dance), Namita Shanti Kujur (Jhumur dance), Rupali Soren (Adivashi folk dance) and Bikram Nirmal Kujur (AdivashiStudents folk dance).

A felicitation programme was organised at Science College Kokrajhar auditorium on Sunday to offer felicitation to the award winning dancing personalities.

Each of award winner was offered warm welcome and felicitated with traditional Phulam Gamocha, Aronai and bunch of flowers on the occasion.

Noted social activist and modeler Smita Dev, former BTC executive member Niren Roy graced as guests and felicitated the award winning dancers.

Director of the Nrityakala Academy, Pralaya Dutta informed that the students of the academy have presented attractive dance in the online dancing competition and won awards. He said that the academy today accorded warm welcome and felicitated them to extend warm encouraging environment.
