AASAA, Tea Estate Labours Stage Protest Demonstration in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, SEP 30: A protest demonstration was staged in front of Kokrajharnd tea estate and Daloabari tea estate today on demand of enhancement daily wage upto Rs.350 for tea estate labours, ST status to the Adivasis, provide land pattas etc to the Adivasi communities in the state of Assam.
Nearly 5000 labours in three tea estates under Kokrajhar sun, namdky Kokrajhar, Daloabari and Banglabari tea estate have aloof from joining the duties for the day in support of increase of daily wage, ST status to the Adivasis in the state of Assam.
The protesters locked the offices of the tea estates in Kokrajhar which paddy disrupted official functioning since morning for the day.
The protest was carried out jointly by Lalmati anchalik committee of All Adivashi Students Association of Assam(AASAA), Joint Action Committee for Tea Workers Wages and Akhil Bharatiya Chah Mazdoor Sangha to put demand to the state government and concern for enhancing of daily wage upto Rs.350, accord ST status to the Adivashis, allot land pattas those are living in forest land areas.
In Kokrajhar and Daloabari tea estate, hundreds of tea estate labours and AASAA activists staged protest with banner, placards participated the protest demonstration and shouted slogans demanding early solutions of issue and grievances of the Adivasis in the state. The protestors warned to boycott the state assembly election in 2021 and will restrict entry of BJP in Adivashi dominated areas in 2021 assembly election.
The protesters have slammed the BJP led state government for not initiating welfare and development services for the Adivasi communities in the state.
AASAA leaders Saleem Minj and Sushil Dhanowar have expressed their resented on BJP led state government, said that the BJP party never think welfare and development aspects for Adivashis. They slammed the BJP for failing to accord ST status to the Adivasis, land pattas.
They warned to step against the BJP party in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state of Assam if they do not take necessary steps to accord ST status to the Adivashis, land pattas those are living in the state.
“BJP led state government has deprived the demand and issues of Adivashis during their reign in the state”, Minj said.
