KOKRAJHAR, JUN 17: One of three main accused of Abhaikuti rape and murdered incident received serious bullet injuries late night in the police firing in Kokrajhar district.
According to police, the incident took place at 2 AM today early morning while police team went to the Abhaikuti for searching mobile hand set belonging to one of victim girl which was thrown to the jungle during the day of the incident.
A police team of investigating and interogation officer (IO) visited at the Abhaikuti remote area late night for spot verification of the mobile handset thrown after accused person had revealed about the mobile’s thrown to the nearby jungle.
The accused person conspiracy pretended in the name of mobile handset searching during the spot verification and tried to escape from the spot by attacking a police jawan with a sharp dao where police team have to resorted to fire two rounds of bullets to control the situation and the accused person received bullet injuries.
The injury accused was identified as Farijul Rahman (22). Rahman recieved bullet injury at his legs.
He was immediately rushed to the RNB civil hospital, but later referred to the Barpeta medical college for better treatment.
A police jawan of Kokrajhar police station recieved injuries fur to attacked by Rahman was to admitted to RNB civil hospital Kokrajhar for treatment. He was identified as Atul Boro.
Notably, police has been continuing it’s strict investigation into the Abhaikuti incident following an FIR registered with Kokrajhar PS, case no. 440/2021.
Two minor girl’s bodies were recovered in mysterious condition hanging on a tree on Friday evening last at Abhaikuti under Kokrajhar police station.
In a deep investigation, police so far arrested seven persons for involved with incident and three of them were charged as main accused of the rape and murdered incident.
The main accused were identified as Muzzaamel Sheik, Nashibul Ali Sheik and Farijul Rahman.
The postmortem report of the incident reached with Kokrajhar police where disclosed that two minor girls were raped and later murdered by perpetrators.
The incident was unearthed as raped and murdered after CID team and Forensic science laboratory team of Guwahati conducted a thorough investigation into the incident and accordingly police able to arrests all involved culprits within four days of the incident.
A SIT (special investigation team) was also formed for investigating the incident, headed by additional SP Kokrajhar, Surjeet Singh Panesar and the SIT team carried out a strict investigation involving all input and information about the incident.
Chief Minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma visited at the Abhaikuti remote village to take stock about the incident and met victim’s family members.
He had asked the police administration to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and arrests the involved culprits.
Speaking the reporters today at a press conference held at SP office Kokrajhar, SP Prateek Thube told that one of three main accused person Farijul Rahman recieved bullet injuries in the police’s firing while he tried and escape from the spot investigation late last night.
” One of the accused of the sensational Abhaikuti raped and murdered case received severely injuries when the police fired at him following he tried to flee during the search operation. The police had to fire at him to prevent him from escaping.The injury accused person Rahman rushed to the Barpeta medical college for treatment”, Thube said.
He further informed that the investigation is going on into the incident and police administration has been taking strict steps against the incident.
He informed that the injury accused has been referred to the Barpeta medical college for treatment.
He said that the postmortem report is reached with the police where necessary inputs and informations are disclosed about the raped and murdered incident.
The two minor girls were raped and later murdered by accused persons which had created shockwaves and sensational among the society in the state.
Meanwhile, several organisations including All Rabha Students Union, All Rabha Women’s Council, Rabha Development Council, All Bodo Students Union have demanded a strict punishment for the arrested accused persons and conduct a first track into the incident without any delay.
