ABSU, Bodo Women Stages Protest Demonstration In Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, JUN 19: The All Bodo Students Union ( ABSU) and Bodo Women Coordination Committee staged a protest demonstration in Kokrajhar today in support of demanding capital punishment for involved culprits, providing compensation to the victim bfamily members of Abhaikuti incident.

It may be mentioned that two minor girls were raped and murdered on 11th June last whose bodies were recovered in mysterious condition hanging on a tree at Abhaikuti remote area under Kokrajhar police station.

Stepping strict step against the incident, police arrested seven persons and three of them were identified as main accused of the incident.

Police has been initiating stern investigation against the incident as an FIR has been lodged with Kokrajhar PS, case registered no. 440/2021.

Hundreds of students union activists of ABSU, activists of Bodo women coordination committee participated with holding placards, banner in the protest demonstration and demanded strict investigation into the Abhaikuti incident.

The students union have urged the state government and police administration for a strict step against the Abhaikuti rape and murder incident in Kokrajhar district.

The students union and Bodo women coordination committee have demanded a proceeding of fast track court for speedy justice in the case of two minor girls rape and murder of Abhayakuti, impose maximum punishment to the accused in the rape and murder case as per the law of the land.

The students union have demanded maximum compensation to the victim families and provide safety & security of the life and property of the common people in the state.

A memorandum was submitted to the chief minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma through the deputy commissioner of Kokrajhar seeking a stringent punishment to the involved culprits as per law of land.

” The students union would like to raise some of the key concerns about the recent rape and murder incident of the two minor girl at Abhayakhuti of Kokrajhar district. For your dynamic intervention and visit in the victim family as the Chief Minister of state all the culprits behind the heinous rape and murder incident are now booked.

The ABSU and Bodo Women Co-Ordination Committee appreciate the quick action of the administrationand also the state wide operation against the drugs and traffickers. ABSU through this protest demonstration maintaining Covid SoP, would like to raise some demands so that the state will be free from such crime against women and minor girls. We are hopeful that the demands of the students union will get prompt attention and necessary action, which will ensure for proper justice for the victimsand the perpetrators to such crimes in the state will be warned as per the law of the land”, the memorandum read.
