ABSU Remembers Kanakeswar Narzary

KOKRAJHAR, JAN 2: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) today observed 79th birth anniversary of late Kanakeswar Narzary, founder general secretary of ABSU at Kalaigaon village playground near Ramfalbill in Kokrajhar district.

Notably, late Narzary was former chief executive member of Bodoland Autonomous Council (now defunct) and regarded as one of prominent leader of Bodoland statehood demand movement besides well known for his social thinker.

He was hailed from Tengaigaon village near Serfanguri in Kokrajhar district and expired on 12th October (2003).

He was also popularly known as Khungkra among the Bodos through his bold leadership while awakening Bodos and tribal communities. He was also known as very creativities in his writings and social thinking.

ABSU president Dipen Boro hoisted union flag followed by homage to late Narzary by his widow Hirabai Narzary.

An open discussion on the contributions and life sketch of late Kanakeswar Narzary was also held on the occasion with Dipen Boro, ABSU president in the chair.

ABSU president Boro said that the students union and Bodo community today observed the birth anniversary of late Kanakeswar Narzary who was regarded as pioneer leader of the Bodos in his days.He has recalled contributions of late Narzary towards the welfare and uplift of the Bodo community as down trodden communities, said that the ABSU and Bodo community will be remembered the ideology and philosophy of late Narzary who had contributed a lot towards the welfare and upift of the Bodo community in his whole life.

BTR CEM Pramod Boro while attending the event as chief guest and paid rich floral tribute to late Narzary.

Boro has recalled contributions of late Kanakeswar Narzary, founder general secretary of ABSU and termed that he was one of prominent leader of the Bodos, who had dedicated his whole life towards uplift and development of the Bodo society.

He has said that today Bodos are remembering the sacrifice and contributions of late Kanakeswar Narzary and urged the young generations to keep alive ideology and philosophy of late Kanakeswar Narzary among the society.

Among others,Assam cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, BTR Legislative Assembly speaker Katiram Boro, BTR executive members Ranjit Basumatary, Ukil Mushahary, MLAs Lawrence Islary, Jayanta Basumatary were prominent attendees in the event.

Meanwhile, BTR CEM Pramod Boro has appreciated chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for his bold initiative to check accident case and stepping up for making accident free environment in the state.

Boro said that CM’s emphasizing for bringing safe and healthy life leading by ending accident free situations across the state, is a good step to get rid free from accidents. He said that today youths of the state are getting safe and healthy life due to strict step initiated by state government on the eve of happy new year.

He has urged the citizens to maintain social distancing under the COVID protocol to check the Omicron as well Covid situation.

Boro has affirmed that his BTR government is committed to work for the welfare and uplift of the citizens with bold initiative in the region. He said that the several clauses of the BTR accord are getting implementation one after another and by the 2024 all clauses would be implemented with properly.

He said that several mission and visions have been initiating towards the uplift and development of the region.
