KOKRAJHAR, AUG 6: Eminent Bodo theatre activist Anil Brahma of Baksa district was conferred Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma Cultural Award-2021 on Saturday at a programme held at Refinary Club cum Community Centre (RCCC), IOCL BRPL township, Dhaligaon Chirang district.
The award has been instituted by Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government in memory of legendary Bodo music composer and singer Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma,who had been contributed a lot towards the uplift and development of the Bodo cultural world.The award comprises a momento, citation and a cheque of Rs 2 lakh which was given away every year to the persons who have been dedicating their services in the field of Bodo cultural.
BTR CEM Pramod Boro handed over the award to the awardee.
Dance India Dance (DID) little master championship winner Nabajit Narzary of Golaghat was also welcome and felicitated on the occasion.
Assam assembly speaker Biswajit Daimary, extended warm welcome and felicitation to Nabajit Narzary with traditional Aronai.
Nabajit Narzary was given away a cheque of Rs 3 lakhs from the BTR government in recognition of his DID championship winning.
Meanwhile, a seminar on the contribution and dedication towards the uplift and development of Bodo music and culture of legendary Bodo singer and lyric Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma was organised today at Refinary Club cum Community Centre (RCCC), IOCL, BRPL township, Dhaligaon of Chirang district.
The first ever seminar and open discussion on with the theme of ‘Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma Dengkhwni Gathwnao: Mwnse Gumur’, who had been contributed a lot on the welfare and integration of the Bodo music & cultural field, who was popularly known as Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma for his well wisdom on Bodo music composing as well singing.
Brahma was regarded as the first Bodo singer who had recorded his songs on Gramophone in Calcutta.He took his singing profession at Calcutta and Lucknow Bhatkhande music school.
Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma was a eminent social activist and Bodo cultural organiser and leader of the Bodo Ansai Afad in his days.
The event was organised by government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in association with Bodo artiste association to keep alive the ideology and philosophy of Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma, who contributed a lot in the field of Bodo music and singing.
Widow of Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma, Pramila Brahma Mushahary paid floral tribute to the portrait of Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma on the occasion.
Kokrajhar East LAC MLA, Lawrence Islary inaugurated the programme.He recalled contributions of Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma who had been composed several Bodo songs besides sung many songs in his days.
ABSU secretary Rangina Borgoyary lit the lamp to inaugurate the dias amidst huge presence of the gathering.
Bodoland Territorial Region chief executive member Pramod Boro graced as chief guest on the occasion.In his speech,Boro said that the BTR government has been emphasizing to preserve the song & musics of Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma and accordingly organised the event from the BTR government.
He has lauded the Cultural department of Bodoland Territorial Region and organisers for organizing the impressive event in memory of legendary Bodo music composer and singer Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma.Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma’s contributions are endless in the field of Bodo music world.
BTR executive member for Cultural Affairs department, Daobaisa Boro informed that the BTR government has decided to erect open cultural mandhap in the name of Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma in all constituencies of BTR districts for which why necessary strategies have so far initiated.
Assam assembly speaker Biswajit Daimary graced as special guest on the occasion.Daimary remembered contributions of Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma.
Among others, MLA Jayanta Basumatary, BTR executve members Daobaisa Boro, Dr Nilut Swargiary, Ukil Mushahary, Reoreoa Narzihary, Wilson Hasda, Gautam Das, retired principal Dr Surath Narzary, theatre activist Sansuma Boro, noted Bodo singers Sulekha Basumatary, Bigrai Brahma were prominent attendees on the occasion.
