Bijlee Mahotsav Observed In Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar, 28 Jul: As part of the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav under the umbrella event “Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power @2047,” Bijlee Mahotsav was observed at Salakati Kathalguri in Kokrajhar district today.

Organised by APDCL, Kokrajhar Electrical Circle along with the District administration, Kokrajhar and POWERGRID, Sidli MLA Jayanta Basumatary, Powergrid Chief General Manager(Construction) PJ Sarma attended the program as guests and inaugurated the program by lighting the inaugural lamp.

Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power @2047 programme is being organized across the country to highlight the key achievements in the power sector. In Kokrajhar, the events have been planned on July 28, 2022 at Kathalguri Community Centre of Salakati and on July 29, 2022 at Kashibari, Dobgaon Playground and the Grand Finale Celebration on July 30, 2022, wherein the Prime Minister of India will interact with the beneficiaries of Harinaguri Pt.- II of Panbari, which is the village selected from Assam for the interaction.

Addressing the gathering, PJ Sarma, Chief General Manager ( Construction) PowerGrid threw light on Ujjawal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya and highlighted the key achievements of power sector in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Jayanta Basumatary MLA commended the officials of the power sector for significantly improving the power scenario of the district in particular and the state as a whole. He also urged the power department to ensure smooth power supply by properly maintaining the supply system.

During the programme, short films were screened by the power department, showcasing various programmes and achievements of the government in village electrification, household electrification, right of consumers, Kusum- PM Kusum Yojana etc.

As per the department officials, in Kokrajhar district, 402 number of villages/ habitations have been electrified under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) new scheme. Under this scheme, 302 number of transformers have been installed, 11 KV line of 165.496 KM and Low Tension (LT) line of 767.277 KM have been constructed and 14075 households (ON GRID and OFF GRID) have been benefitted.

And in SAUBHAGYA Scheme, 1068 number of villages/habitations have been electrified. Under this scheme, 380 number of transformers have been installed, 11 KV line of 260.289 KM and LT line of 897.70 KM have been constructed and 45512 households (ON GRID and OFF GRID) have been benefitted in Kokrajhar district.

Beneficiaries of several energy sector schemes shared their testimonials at the event.
