Bodofa U.N. Brahma 66th Birth Anniversary


Kokrajhar, March 31: The 66th birth anniversary of ‘Bodofa’ Upendra Nath Brahma was observed today at various places throughout the state.

In Kokrajhar, the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) celebrated the day centrally at Thulungapuri, the burial place of Bodofa U.N. Brahma in Dotma, Kokrajhar with various day-long program.

As part of the programme, All Bodo Students Union president Dipen Boro hoisted the organizational flag, followed by floral tribute at the statue of Bodofa.

People from all walks of life, students from various educational institutions, leaders from various organizations and locals participated in the programme and paid respect to Bodofa.

In his speech, ABSU president said that “Bodofa, as a student leader, had brought about remarkable changes in the lives of the downtrodden through the ‘Bodoland’ movement.

He said Bodofa was a leader not only for Bodos but also for the students and the underprivileged who believed in non-violence. Boro said Bodofa dreamt of literate society with moto of “live and let live”. He is among the greatest visionary leaders of the ‘Bodoland’ movement and an icon of leadership, sacrifice and unity, he said.

The day was also observed at various places by the union. The ABSU observed the day as ‘Students Day’.

The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) administration also observed the day by garlanding the statue of Bodofa in-front of BTC Secretariat. Floral tribute was also paid.
