BTAD Renamed to BTR From Now Onwards: Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma

KOKRAJHAR, 25 SEP: The historic Bodo peace accord that was signed on 27 January this year has come into reality as BTAD  renamed to BTR from now onwards. A meeting was held on 20th September between home minister Amit Shah and chief minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal to discuss on this accord, said Education, Finance and Health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in a press meet on Friday.

Sarbanada Sonowal has already given the nod to implement this clause and it has also been approved by Jagadish Mukhi, the governor of Assam the minister added.

Himanta Biswa Sarma further talked about the inclusion and exclusion of villages contiguous to BTC and non BTC district under para 14 of sixth schedule of Indian constitution.

Dr. Sarma also mentioned that a special committee is formed headed by former Assam chief secretary Mr. P.P Verma (IAS retd.), Mr. Jayanta Basumutary (Vice President ABSU), Mr. Dalim Bayan as the representative of other communities and BTC administrator Mr. Rajesh Prasad (IAS) will look after the inclusion and exclusion of villages in BTR.

Later the commission will also look after the move to increase the number of seats to 60 in BTR, the minister added.
