KOKRAJHAR, DEC 9: Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) executive member for Tourism department, Dharma Narayan Das has been confered honorary Doctorate from University of America for his tremendous services towards socio-economic upliftment in remote area in Baksa district.
Das, who is graduated from Sainik School of Goalpara, started his small tea plantation initiative in 2008 at his Kumarikata along the remote areas in Baksa district and now the small tea grower’s number increased to 350 across the entire Baksa district and over 10000 populations are relying on their Ieading life through the tea plantation crops.
He was former state government employee in the Pharmaceutical Science and later, resigned from his job to render services among us citizens.
Das was first elected to the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly in 2015 from Kumarikata constituency and elected for second consecutive term in 2020.
The University of America has confered the honorary Doctorate on 24th November last to Das for tremendous services in bringing encouragious livelihood earnings among the society.
Professor from University of America, Dr Madhu Krishnan has handed over the honorary Doctorate to Das.
Talking with reporters today in Kokrajhar, Das has expressed his excitement after receiving the honorary Doctorate, said that he is very much happy with the recognition.
