Cattle Smuggling Encounter: One Injury Hospitalised, Other 2 Held


KOKRAJHAR, NOV 27: A cattle smuggler has been reportedly recieved bullet injuries at a police encounter late last night and two others arrested in Kokrajhar district.

According to police, a cattle smuggler sustained serious inquiries at an encounter held at Kakrikola around 2 am under Kokrajhar police station late last night and two others were apprehended from Jaoliapara who were involved with smuggling cattles in the district.

The bullet injury cattle smuggler has been rushed to the Barpeta medical college immediately after the incident.

The cattle received one bullet injury in the encounter on his right leg and said to be out of critical who is going under treatment at Barpeta medical college.

He has been identified as Kairul Islam of Jaoliapara of Kokrajhar district.

The cattle smuggler was arrested while he was trying to smuggle cattles from Kokrajhar town area.

Police informed that Kairul Islam tried to snatch away pistol of a police officer and accordingly police have to fire at him and recieved bullet injuries.

During the same night, police have also arrested two more cattle smugglers Jaoliapara village near Simbargaon in Kokrajhar district.

They were identified as Nur Muhammad (33) and Alhas Ali Sikdar (31) of Choto Mojabari Chirang district. An FIR lodged with Kokrajhar PS.

Police has been stepping strict step against the cattle smuggling in the district, said a senior police officer.
