KOKRAJHAR, JUL 11: A Charity Football match has been organising at Dimakuchi mini stadium in Udalguri district of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) for contributing flood relief in BTR as well Assam state.
A massive preparation for holding the charity football match has been scheduled to be held on 17th July which will be played between Indian super league (ISL)/I-League Heroes vurses Bodoland Eleven that would be taking place with befitting programme scheduled at Dimakuchi mini stadium in Udalguri district.
An organising committee has been formed to conduct the charity football match with Daobaisa Boro, BTR executive member as chairman.
The football event has been organising by Sports & Youth Welfare department of Bodoland Territorial Region government to explore sporting environment among the coming up generations across the region as well entire state of Assam.
Addressing the reporters today at a press conference held at BTC Secretariat conference hall in Kokrajhar, BTR executive member Daobaisa Boro told that the charity football match is going to be organised on 17th July at Dimakuchi mini stadium with colourful programme scheduled for fund raising for the flood relief.
He said that the havoc caused by the recent flood and landslides in Assam due to extremely heavy pre monsoon rainfall which have taken houses from many of our brothers and sisters. He mentioned that the railways, roads and bridges have been damaged due to landslides and erosion across the state. He informed that several prominent footballers from ISL/ Indian league level from the northeastern states including Halicharan Narzary, prominent footballers from the state are participating the event.
He said that this is the first time ever event that has been emphasizing to create an environment of mega sporting event participating by local footballer and national rank footballers in the region for fund raising for the flood relief.
” The houses and other buildings have been submerged and many essential goods and commodities lost. The lives of children, elders and other vulnerable groups have adversely affected and left thousands of people homeless. These would be a need for lots of funds to reconstruct the affected areas. Your(citizens) help is needed to get life back to normal in this state as well as in BTR and subsequently unanimously the organizing committee of the charity football match for flood relief has decided that we would contribute all the collection funds from charity football match to the chief care fund (Relief Fund of BTR government. So, we appeal all sections to come forward and contribute towards this noble cause”, Boro added.
BTR CEM Pramod Boro is attending as chief guest in the charity football match which would be witnessed huge thronging of spectators from different places of the entire BTR districts.
