Chhat Puja Celebrates In BTR Districts

KOKRAJHAR, NOV 11: Along with rest of the state, the Chhat Puja, the festival of paying obeisance to Surjya Bhagawan (Sun God) for sustaining life on earth, celebration was concluded with two-day worship to Surjya Devota on Thursday morning at various river banks including Gaurang River in Kokrajhar,heart town of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) administration.

In Kokrajhar, thousands of devotees observed fast and perform the rituals during the celebration and offered their prayers to the Sun God for their peace and sustaining of life in their respective family.

The Chhat puja was organised by Surjya Swasti Puja Shah Samaj Kalyan Sangha, Kokrajhar in a tight security arrangement where devotees from various parts of the district took part and performed their rituals that saw an integration of peace and harmony among the society.

Organiser of the Chhat puja in Kokrajhar, Prem Chandra Jha said that that the Chhat Puja is a festival of praying to Sun God for sustaining healthy life and successful of aspuration of family on living.He said that Chhat puja has been celebrating in Kokrajhar since forefathers in a healthy and peaceful manner and this year too devotees took part in a fair manner.He said that the Chhat puja celebration was concluded with peaceful manner that marked healthy environment while offering prayers to the Sun God.

The Chhat puja was also celebrated at river bank of Hel Fakiragram with festivity fervor which was organised by Fakiragram Surjya Swasti Puja Chhat Puja Shah Samiti.

Large number of devotees observed fast and perform the rituals during the celebration and held prayers to the Sun God for their peace and sustaining of life in their respective family.

President of the organising committee Cheniram Das said that the Chhat Puja is a festival of praying to Sun God for sustaining healthy life and successful of aspuration of family on living. He said that Chhat puja has been celebrating in Kokrajhar since forefathers in a healthy and peaceful manner and this year too devotees took part in fair manner.

He has extended sincere thanks to the district administration and devotees who have thronged at the river bank for participating the festivity Chhat Puja.

The Chhat puja was also celebrated at Salakati, Gossaigaon of Kokrajhar district, Basugaon, Bijni of Chirang, Baksa abd Udalguri districts with festivity fervour.

“We offered our prayer and worship to the almighty Sun God to healthy wellbeing as well peace and harmony among the society. This is a traditional puja to offer prayer to the Surjya Devota”, said a devotee in Kokrajhar.
