Choto Adabari Won Traditional Bodo Amwl Dimwl Game Competition


KOKRAJHAR, OCT 31: Choto Adabari lifted the trophy of first Chanokya Brahma memorial Amwl Dimwl (Water Game) competition-2021 defeating Salakati team in the final match being played at Ramfalbill Longa Irrigation project held on Sunday in Kokrajhar district.

The traditional Bodo Amwl Dimwl game competition was organised by Bodoland Indigenous Games Association on the occasion of 9th death anniversary observation of Chanokya Brahma, former principal of Kokrajhar DIET, noted author and sports organiser,who was popularly known for his deep dedication for indigenous sports in the region.

The indigenous game Amwl Dimwl competition has created amusement and enthusiasm among the spectators at Ramfalbill Longa Irrigation project which has been carrying by Bodoland Indigenous Games Association for promotion of traditional games like Amwl Dimwl, Komlainai etc.

25 teams participated in the sports competition from different clubs from four districts of Bodoland Territorial Region.

In the final match, Choto Adabari beat the Salakati team and lifted the prize money and trophy.

Ramfalbill Longa Irrigation area club was adjusted third spot.

Large number of spectators thronged at the Longa Irrigation project site to see the traditional game competition.

Former BTC MCLA Jyotirindra Brahma graced as chief guest in the prize distribution ceremony.

The championship team was given away a trophy and cash Rs. 20,000 while runners up team was awarded trophy and cash Rs 15,000 respectively.

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) executive member Daobaisa Boro inaugurated the traditional game competition.He said that the traditional Bodo games like Amwl Dimwl (water game) is regarded as an oldest game tradition which has attracted the spectators. He said that the BTR administration has been emphasizing for promotion of traditional games in the region and necessary supports will be extending to the sports organiser.

He has lauded the BIGA associaion for organising the traditional Bodo Amwl Dimwl water competition which has created sporting amusement.

Earlier, president of the association Boloram Brahma hoisted association flag followed by floral tribute to late Chanokya Brahma by widow Rani Brahma.

Chanokya Brahma was expired on 31st October (2012) in Beijing, China while going for participating the international sports events.

He was a noted educationist and author of Bodo language.
