Citizens Stage Protest With Burning Effigies In Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, MAR 22: Conscious citizens of greater Kokrajhar town have staged a protest demonstration today in Kokrajhar town along the J D Road with burning effigies in protest against the persons those have lodged PIL petition with Gauhati High Court against the BTR accord ( Bodoland Territorial Region) few days ago.

Notably, several intellectuals and social activists of Bodoland region including ex-MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary, ex minister Chandan Brahma, ex BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary, noted authors Dr Mangalsingh Hazoary, Dr Dinanath Basumatary, ex-BTC executve member Derhasat Basumatary have filed a PIL with Gauhati High Court against the BTR accord on 17th March.

The PIL has sought immediate response against the historic BTR accord which was regarded as the third Bodo peace accord in the state of Assam where all four factions of former NDFB organisations, ABSU leaders and UBPO leaders had signed the peace accord.

Hundreds of protestors have participated the protest demonstration against the PIL petition and burnt down effigies of ex MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary,ex minister Chandan Brahma, ex BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary, writers Dr Mangalsingh Hazoary, Dr Dinanath Basumatary, ex BTC executive member Derhasat Basumatary etc.

The protestors strongly objected the and condemned the PIL petition lodged with High Court and demanded immediate withdrawal of the PIL.

The protestors have demanded properly implementation of all clauses of the BTR with letter and spirit to make healthy upliftment and social integration among the society.
