KOKRAJHAR, MAY 18: The 27th triennial conference of Assam Gorkha Sammelon was concluded on Wednesday held at Nikashi play-ground in Baksa district with a three day colourful programme.
During the conference, the sammelon discussed thoroughly on the welfare and development of the Gorkha community in the state.
Chief minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma graced as chief guest on the open session of the concluding day today.
In his speech, Dr Sarma has said that the Gorkha community in the state have been contributed a lot towards the welfare and development integration among the society. He said that the Gorkha community peoples are very humble and obedience while addressing the social integration. He has informed that the state government has been emphasizing for bringing healthy welfare and development for the Gorkha community and subsequently formed Gorkha development council for facilitating healthy development.
Bodoland Territorial Region chief executive member Pramod Boro while attending as special guest said that he was very much pleased to attend the tri-annual conference of the sammelon in the presence of chief minister Dr Sarma today.
He has remarked that the Sammelon’s contribution towards the society & its efforts in uplifting the Gorkha community is noteworthy.
He said that the BTR government has initiated several welfare aspect and initiatives for different ethnic communities including Gorkha in the region.
Among others, Assam ministers Ashok Singhal, Urkhao Gwra Brahma were prominent attendees on the occasion.
