KOKRAJHAR, MAY 22: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited at Srirampur inter state border check gate with West Bengal to review COVID-19 management in Kokrajhar district.
Dr Sarma was accompanied with Health minister Keshab Mahanta, BTC chief executive member (CEM) Pramod Boro in a Helicopter and landed at Srirampur High School helipad ground 9.45 am.
Soon after arriving at the Srirampur, Dr Sarma inspected Covid scanning center set up at Srirampur inter state border check gate where Passengers coming from neighbouring states have been conducted tests.
Dr Sarma, Mahanta and Boro have planted saplings along the Srirampur inter state border during their visit.
Dr Sarma attended in a review meeting on COVID-19 management with health officials, district administration which was organised by ministry of Health and Family Welfare department.
After the meeting, Dr Sarma told the media persons that he has reviewed all Covid management initiated by health authorities and district administration to check the spreading of COVID-19 situation across the district. He has urged the district administration and health authorities to be stressed more of performing RTPCR besides RAT while conducting Covid test.
Dr Sarma said that there would be no lockdown across the state, but a strict initiative has been initiating against the spreading of COVID-19 situation.
He informed that the state government has opined to be continued the banning of inter district movement till 5th June next to check the COVID-19 enfluence situation.
He said that the curfew in rural area has been imposed from 2 pm instead of 5 pm every day and urban area would be come under curfew from 12 pm to combat the COVID-19 situation.
He said that state has a sufficient availability of Oxygen while fulfilling the needy of the patients during the emergency periods.
He said that each district administration will have an Oxygen plant within short span of days and so far Chirang district have set up Oxygen plant.
He said that state government and health authorities are initiating strict step against the ongoing Covid situation across the state.
CM or Sarma has asked the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar to act strictly towards the checking and testing on all passengers coming from the neighbouring states to eradicate the COVID-19 enfluence situation in the district.
He said that state government and health authorities are fully prepared to combat the ongoing COVID-19 situation with prompt responsibilities.
“Necessary checking step on the passenger buses are initiated at the Srirampur inter state border for Covid test”, Dr Sarma said.
He also informed that vaccination drive and awareness initiatives on Covid are carrying to stop the spreading of the Covid situation.
Till Tuesday, 23 persons killed due to COVID-19 positive case and over 480 persons are detected positive active cases in Kokrajhar district.
