Consignment of Smuggled Illegal liquor Seized in Chirang

Kajalgaon(Chirang), Sept 1: Chirang police recovered 318 packets of suspected Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) contained in plastic bags from a bamboo laden truck.

According to police sources, based on specific input, an operation was conducted by Chirang Police led by Addl. SP (Hq), Chirang last evening and during the operation, one truck bearing Registration No. RJ-27-GB 0810 loaded with bamboo was observed coming from Rakhaldubi, Bongaigaon side and accordingly it was signaled to stop. The truck however tried to escape at high speed. The truck was intercepted near Chapaguri Chariali after deliberate chasing.

During checking of the vehicle, 318 packets of suspected IMFL contained in plastic bags were found loaded in the truck which was kept concealed under the cover of the bamboo. The apprehended person could not produce any valid documents in support of transportation of the same.

The driver of the vehicle identified as Kamalesh Meena (36 yrs) of Charma Talab, Udaipur, Rajasthan was arrested.

Police suspected that the recovered items were attempted to transport illicitly to the neighbouring states by some organised criminal gangs.
