Contractors Stages Protest In Bodoland Secretariat

KOKRAJHAR, SEP 16: Members from Bodoland Contractor Association have staged a protest demonstration in front of Bodoland Secretariat on Thursday in Kokrajhar in support of demanding early sanctioning and releasing of the SOPD funds of 2020-21 of all departments in Bodoland Territorial Region districts.

Hundreds of contractors from across the BTR districts participated the protest demonstration and demanded early release of the SOPD funds which are going liebilities since 2015 in all departments.

The contractor association submitted a memorandum to the deputy chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region Gabinda Chandra Basumatary today at Bodoland Secretariat via BTR Principal Secretary.

“The Bodoland Contractor Association said that the contractors of Bodoland Territorial Region got some contract works from SOPD funds from BTC. As per contract agreement the contractors had completed their works. But, unfortunately their liabilities bills of SOPD funds of all departments are still pending since the year of 2015. Besides those completed works, they have some existing contract works which are yet to be completed. But the concerned departments of BTC have not provided running bills as per contract agreement”, the memorandum said.

The contractors have urged the BTR administration authorities to make sanction and release the pending liabilities/ bills as well as running bills of the SOPD funds, 2020-21 of all departments for the best interest of bringing healthy livelihoods of the contractors in the region.

The association has warned to take legal aid if their bills were not meet in earliest.

Notably, there are near about 3000 crores of liebilities in all departments of Bodoland Territorial Region districts which was left by BPF ruled previous government.

The BTR administration has now been facing severe hardships due to huge amounts crores of liebilities in the council districts.

Member of the association Bikram Daimary said that the contractors in Bodoland Territorial Region districts are not getting any pending bills/ running bills due to insincerity from the BTR authorities.He has urged the BTR administration to make early sanctioning and releasing of the pending/running bills without any delay.

Daimary has demanded that all pending as well as running bills must be released while bringing a healthy livelihood environment among the citizens in the council.
