KOKRAJHAR, APRIL 8: Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar Varnali Deka ceremonially distributed the financial grants in aid for the six Rongali Bihu celebration committee under Kokrajhar district on Friday at a programme held at DC office conference hall in Kokrajhar.
The district administration has stepped up for extending financial support to the Rongali Bihu celebration committee guidance reached from the state government to celebrate the Rongali Bihu across the state.
In Kokrajhar district, six Rongali Bihu celebration committee was given away financial grants in aid and subsequently ceremonially distributed the cheques among Bihu celebration committee in the presence of MLAs of the Kokrajhar district.
However, several Rongali Bihu celebration committees including Rongjali Bwisagu Pwrbw celebration committees have expressed their resented for depriving the financial grants in aid from the state government during this Bihu celebration in the district of Kokrajhar.
Meanwhile, the All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) welcomes the Assam government’s decision to provide the one time financial assistance of rupees 1.5 Lakh each to those Bihu/Bwisagu celebration committees which organizes Rongali Bihu/Bwisagu functions from Sankranti to the 6th day of the Bohag/Bwisag month of Assamese calendar every year.
Infact there are many such Bihu/Bwisagu organizing communities are not found in the selected list for financial assistance. This has happened due to the discriminatory attitude of officers of Revenue department which is not acceptable to us. So, the all Bodo Students Union strongly condemns against such discriminatory act played by some circle officers of revenue department and appeals to the government of Assam to provide the same benefit to all eligible organizing committees immediately by making proper field surveys, this was stated by ABSU general secretary Khanindra Basumatary in a press statement.
