Drug Smuggler Shot At In Kokrajhar


Kokrajhar, April 30: A suspected drug dealer was shot at in Assam’s Kokrajhar district early on Saturday, a senior officer said.

According to police, the drug smuggler was shot at by the police team while trying to flee after snatching the service pistol of SI Brijesh Kumar after pushing him Saturday wee morning. One bullet hit the left leg of the accused. He was admitted to RNB Civil Hospital Kokrajhar for treatment. He has been identified as Mohanlal-35 yrs from Rajasthan Barmer district.

Police said based on specific information received that a truck bearing registration no RJ14-GT 9213 was carrying drugs from Guwahati side towards Rajasthan, a naka was placed at Sriampur in Kokrajhar district Friday evening and intercepted the vehicle at Simultapu Majid Petrol pump and searched the vehicle and found approx 3kg100 grm Heroin and approx 85 kg opium inside the diesel Oil tank.

According to police, the accused confessed of carrying the drugs from Imphal to be delivered in Rajasthan.
