KOKRAJHAR, FEB 11: Former General Secretary of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and one of signatories of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) accord, Lawrence Islary has formally joined the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) party along with other over 2000 members at a grand joining ceremony held at Kangklabada in Kokrajhar district on Thursday.
Islary was relieved from ABSU organisation during the annual conference of the ABSU held recently at Gohpur in Biswanath district last January 30.
He was associated with ABSU since 2001 and held several positions in the students union till January last 2021.
Islary joined the UPPL party along with other 2000 members from different places of Kokrajhar, Chirang and Baksa districts.
Among others, former ABSU speaker Phanin Boro, ABSU leaders Mithinga Wary, ex BLT leader Rupam Kumar Brahma, ex MLA Parmeswar Brahma were prominent joining members in the UPPL party in the presence of UPPL president Pramod Boro.
UPPL president and BTR chief executive member (CEM) Pramod Boro welcomed and offered warm felicitation to newly joined members with traditional and bouquet of flowers.
UPPL president Boro said that his UPPL party is now getting multi-vitamins as huge new members are joining the UPPL party since it’s inception day by day from different communities in the region.
Boro said UPPL party was working dedicatedly towards building up of peace and tranquility among the society. He said that citizens are wanting peace and unity environment among to have the massive welfare and integration.
He has opined that illegal arms must be rooted out at any costs in BTR areas to end the anti-social activities as because peoples from all sections of society are wanting healthy development.
He said that UPPL led coalition government in BTR was working with dedicatedly to uplift since it’s inception and accordingly BTC government recently distributed land pattas, appointments for teachers in four districts as per the spirit of the BTR accord implementation.
He said that all clauses of the BTR accord signed on 27th January (2020) in a tripartite peace talks, are getting properly implementation one by one under the bold initiative of centre and state governments.
He said that BTR administration is taking strict step to uplift agricultural, road communication, health sectors in the region to have parivartan environment.
He has alleged that BPF led BTC administration failed to work for the peoples in their 17 years of rule.
He has accused of BPF party has no any welfare agenda for working of people’s welfare and development.
He has said that citizens have been deprived their due right and welfare aspects due to insincerity attitudes in the council region.
Boro has reacted over the reactions of BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary over UPPL led coalition government in BTR, said that the previous BPF government never thought welfare and development of the common masses in their 17 year ruled in BTC administration.
He has emphasised to bring corruption and anomalies free environment in BTR administration to meet parivartan and healthy development.
On the upcoming Assam assembly election,Boro said that his UPPL party is fully prepared to contest the upcoming Assam assembly elections.
He informed that his party discussing with alliance partner BJP for alliance building and necessary decision would be taking place in days to come. He said his party is getting up mass popularity among the citizens as peoples from different communities are coming forward for extending support.
Boro has claimed that this time BPF party is facing severe defeats in all existing MLAs in BTR areas in the upcoming Assam assembly elections.
“BPF party is scoring zero seat in the upcoming Assam assembly elections”, Boro added.
He said that his UPPL party is winning majority seats in the BTR areas with massive support of common citizens.
Islary, who was former ABSU general secretary said that he has joined the UPPL party to extend humanity welfare services in the region. He said that he rendered his services towards upliftment of the society through the student union organisation over two decades.
He said that he is contesting the upcoming Assam assembly elections from Kokrajhar East constituency on UPPL party ticket against the senior BPF leader and Assam minister Pramila Rani Brahma.
Among others,ex MP and senior UPPL leader Urkhao Gwra Brahma,ex MLA Nathuram Boro, BTC executive member Ukil Mushahary, UPPL general secretary Maoti Brahma Hazoary were prominent attendees on the occasion.
