Flood Preparedness Meeting Held

KOKRAJHAR, FEB 24: A flood preparedness meeting under the chairmanship of Kokrajhar deputy commissioner, Bhaskar Phukan was held at the conference hall of deputy commissioner today.

Various subject and issues, including vulnerability assessment, stocking of food grains and other essential commodities, medicines, safe drinking water, maintenance of power damage assessment, keeping available equipments for rescue operation during flood were discussed as a part of preparedness in the meeting.

Citing numerous problems that appear during flood, the DC Phukan called upon officers to always keep themselves ready for any eventuality.

He has asked all the circle officers and district heads of the line departments to submit their flood preparedness plans, quick response teams within 15 days to the DDMA.

In the meeting, he also requested Executive Officer, Kokrajhar Municipality Board to take action for cleaning of drains to make the town area free from water logging during rainy season. Chief Conservator of Forest, SDO (C) Gossaigaon, All Circle Officers, DPO, DDMA, All district heads of concerned line departments, Civil Defence and All Field Officers (DM) were also present in the meeting.
