Forest Minister Patowary Emphasises For Protection Of Forest Wealth

KOKRAJHAR, JUL 12: Forest & environment minister of Assam, Chandra Mahan Patowary has emphasized for the healthy preservation and protection of forest wealth from the encroachment to meet a healthy reforestation across the state.

On Tuesday, a meeting of minister for enviornment & forest department, Chandra Mahan Patowary, Ravi Shankar Prasad IAS, additional chief secretary, environment & forest to the government of Assam; MK Yadav IFS, PCCF to the government of Assam with BTR CEM Pramod Boro, BTR executive members Ranjit Basumatary, Reoreoa Narzihary, MLA Jiran Basumatary, Kokrajhar DC Varnali Deka, SP Prateek Thube Prateek, BTC secretary Naren Chandra Basumatary, Gossaigaon SDO (civil) Masanda Pertin, all forest department officials of BTR was at BTC Secretariat conference hall in Kokrajhar.

The meeting was discussed thoroughly over the preservation and reforestation of the forest wealth across the BTR districts.

Patowary said that state government and BTR government have been initiating for fencing in some forest areas to make protection of encroachment to the forest by the people in the region.He informed that so far state government instructed all the DFOs to take necessary action accordingly.

The DFOs are informed to the minister of Assam that the problem is with the manpower shortest in the department while dealing with the issues and minister has assured for filling up the vacancies posts.

BTR CEM Pramod Boro said that the preservation and protection of forest wealth from the encroachment is our main duty and reforestation of forest has so far initiated from the BTR government.

He informed that whatever deforestation was happened earlier in the areas that has already over through the bold initiative from BTR government as well forest department.

” Now onwards, the deforestation should not be happened again across the region. The conflict of men and animal are always happening in our area. For that we are providing compensation to the victims’ families”, Boro said adding that the BTR government is trying to re-settle them (encroachment) from who are all settling down in forest area to the other area. So that we can control encroachment of forest.

He said BTR government and forest department have been jointly working dedicatedly towards the preservation and reforestation of forest environment to make green environment in days to come.
