Goria Moria Carries Out Padajatra In Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, FEB 17: A six-day Padajatra of Goria Moria Deshi Jatiya Parishad of Bodoland Territorial Region was concluded in Kokrajhar town with submitting memorandum to the chief minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in demand of granting political rights for Goria Moria Deshi community, constitute a development board for Goria Moria community, allot engagement members in several board/corporation from the community.

The Padajatra was organised by  the BTR coordination committee of the Goria Moria Deshi Jatiya Parishad which was started from 12th February from Tamulpur that completed it’s six-day Padajatra today with submitted a memorandum to the chief minister Dr Sarma through the deputy commissioner Kokrajhar.

Members from different districts of the Bodoland Territorial Region participated and joined hands in the programme that has opined for pressurising the BTR and state government for early granting of welfare and developmental aspects of the Goria Moria community.

The Padajatra was started from Tamulpur on 12th February with demanding early solutions of the demands and grievances of the community with immediate steps from the Bodoland Territorial Region government.

A memorandum was also submitted to BTR CEM Pramod Boro through the BTR Principal Secretary seeking immediate allotment of political rights for the Goria Moria Deshi community.

The Padajatra was led by president of the BTR coordination committe of Goria Moria Deshi Jatiya Parishad, Sheik Selim Patgiri and was participated from different districts of the region.

The Padajatra has traversed to nine districts of the lower Assam districts and evoked full response from the community.

Sheik said that the Padajatra was concluded today that demanded early initiative for conducting a special census for the Goria Moria community, provide political rights etc.

General Secretary of the Sadou Assam Goria Moria Deshi Jatiya Parishad Ajijul Haque has demanded an early step initiated from BTR government while according development and welfare aspects for the Goria Moria community across the region. He said that that Goria Moria Deshi community is depriving their due rights of welfare and developmental aspects due to insincerity towards from the government. He has urged the BTR and state government to initiate a bold steps towards the uplift and development of the Goria Moria Deshi community in the state.
