KOKRAJHAR, MAR 4: The Garo Students Union (GSU) of BTC zone has decided to extend support to the UPPL party in the upcoming Assam assembly elections in Bodoland Territorial Region for paving the healthy welfare and development of the community.
Addressing a press conference today held at Kokrajhar Press Club, president of the GSU Triven Sangma has announced their support to the UPPL party in the upcoming Assam assembly elections. He said that the Garos are peace loving people but exploited and apprised in all sectors.
He has expressed great displeasure about the exploitations from development by the then
BPF government led by Hagrama Mohilary for last 17 yrs. The then BPF Govt. never tried tou upliftthe political, socio-economic, educational & cultural etc. conditions of the Garo living within BTC region.
He has alleged that previous BPF ruled BTC administration failed to work for the welfare and development of the Garo community during their 17 year ruled.
BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary had put several promises for the Garo the, but nothing was done from BPF ruled BTC administration.
He has welcomed the new BTC Govt. headed by Pramod Boro and urged the BTC Govt to take necessary initiative to fulfill the demands of the Garos on political, socio-economic, educational & cultural etc. sectors And to give this Garo community a proper status in society without any discrimination as per Constitution of India.
He said that the entire GSU and Garo Community of BTC region extends support to the new BTC Govt headed by Pramod Boro with a hope for better BTC and new era of development and equality to the exploited Garos of BTC region.
