Int’l Yoga Day Celebrated In BTR Districts


KOKRAJHAR, JUN 21: Along with rest of the state, the 7th International Yoga Day was celebrated today amidst maintaining Covid protocol in the districts of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) with sending messages for bringing healthy life through the regularly practicing of yoga.

In Kokrajhar, hundreds of participants participated in the yoga day celebration and performed practices of yoga held at at KDSA indoor stadium in Kokrajhar, which was organised by district administration Kokrajhar in association with Sports & Youth Welfare department of BTC administration.

BTR CEM Pramod Boro, Assam cabinet minister UG Brahma, Special DGP of Assam Dr LR Bishnoi, MLA Lawrence Islary, DC Kokrajhar Megh Nidhi Dahal were attended the Yoga Day celebration and performed yoga practices.

Boro said that yoga must be practices daily to meet disease free healthy health among the human living.He has opined that the human mental stress should be decrease by increasing physical strength through the regularly practicing habitual yoga everyday.

He urged all citizens to participate in the yoga day celebration and maintain healthy health among the society. Boro said Yoga is an exercise to make disease free health for human beings.

He informed that the BTR administration is taking stern steps to make the yoga as educational curriculum in the BTR districts.

Minister Brahma said that citizens from all sections of the society should come forward to make habitual yoga practices everyday.

In Chirang, the International Day of Yoga, 2021 was observed in various parts of Chirang district. The main programme was held at Kajalgaon district parade ground under the aegis of Chirang district administration.

Attending as a participant, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Chirang, Ajit Kumar Sarmah inaugurated the event in the presence of other officials and staff of the district administration. In his short speech, ADC Sarmah said about the importance of doing yoga every day for the wellness of our body and mind, as well as for the society in general.

On the occasion, some line departments, which include sports, education, DIPRO, including some sports clubs and NGOs also separately organized yoga programmes at different locations.
