Journo Hospitalised, Police Personal Attacked On Journalist In Chirang


KOKRAJHAR, FEB 7: A journalist was sustained a serious injuries due to atrocities and attacked by a police personal on Monday afternoon at Basugaon town of Chirang district.

The incident took place at Basugaon of Chirang.

The injury journalist was identified as Jayanta Debnath, reporter of Asomiya Pratidin Chirang Corespondent.

According to Debnath, he was received serious inquiries attacked by a police personal of Basugaon police station.

The police personal was identified as Pradip Saha.

Debnath was mercilessly beaten up by police when he put a question on helmet use of police personal while riding two wheeler on the road.

Police personal attacked heavily that led serious inquiries.

The injury journalist was immediately rushed to the local hospital, later referred to the Bongaigaon Lower Assam Hospital for better treatment.

Journalists fraternities of Chirang and Kokrajhar districts strongly condemned the atrocities on journalists and demanded step against the involved police personal.

President of Bodoland Journalists Association Abu Bakkar Siddique and general secretary Hantigiri Narzary have vehemently condemned the attacked on Jayanta Debnath, journalist of Asomiya Pratidin of Chirang Correspondent by a police personal.

The association demands a strict investigation into the attack on journalist and early arrest and punished the involved police personal with immediate effect.

“The attack on a journalist is an attack on fourth estate”, the associaion said.

Kokrajhar Press Club strongly condemned the police atrocities on journalist Jayanta Debnath today at Basugaon town. The involved police personal must be punished.
