KOKRAJHAR, NOV 21: It is a good information for the citizens of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) districts as Kokrajhar Municipality Board (KMB) has been awarded first rank as ‘Best Self-Sustainable City’ in North-east Zone of India in Swachch Survekshan -2021 under Swachch Bharat Mission of India.
The Bodoland Territorial Region has declared Kokrajhar as city of peace and accordingly Kokrajhar town’s look has been made developed by initiating beautification and properly uplift of the drainage system across the town.
The award has been extended to the Kokrajhar Municipality Board for it’s cleanliness initiative under the mission of green Kokrajhar clean Kokrajhar across the Kokrajhar town and it’s adjoining areas.
Notably, Kokrajhar Municipality Board has started it’s swachch Kokrajhar mission since 2014 and implementing the garbage free environment in Kokrajhar town and it’s adjoining areas through the initiative of solid and liquid resources management (SLRM) where hundreds of SLRM workers have been engaged in managing the green Kokrajhar clean Kokrajhar mission.
Kokrajhar town is situated in the heart of Bodoland Territorial Region administration and it’s population is about 40 thousand.
The KMB has also been campaigning with the mission of ‘I Love Kokrajhar’ by wall postering as well carrying awareness messages through the mass awareness campaining in the town.
The Kokrajhar Municipality Board was awarded the national level recognised first rank best self sustainable city by ministry of Housing and Urban affairs, government of India in the field of cleanliness and dirty free town.
The KMB was awarded the best self sustainable city among the nine towns which have been awarded the cleanliness status in the northearern zone.The awarded towns are included Tejpur,Jorhat, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Tinsukia, Golaghat, Haflong, Hailakandi and Lakhipur (Cachar).
On Saturday, chairperson of Kokrajhar Municipality Board Pratibha Brahma,chief executive officer Rahul Phukan received the award at a prigramme held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi in the presence of President Ram Nath Kovind.
KMB chairperson, Brahma has conveyed her thanks to all citizens from Kokrajhar town and it’s adjoining areas who have helped the KMB authorities in contributing to receive the prestigious national level award in the field of self sustainable cleanliness step.
She said that the KMB authorities has always been emphasizing for bringing healthy cleanliness and green environment for building a human wellbeing environment with a mission of green Kokrajhar and clean Kokrajhar.
She has also informed that the KMB has also taking several steps to ensure beautification of Kokrajhar town and it’s adjoining areas.
Bodoland Territorial Region chief executive member Pramod Boro has extended his gratitude and congratulations to the office bearers of Kokrajhar Municipality Board including chairperson Pratibha Brahma and all staffs who have been rendering their selflessness services in bringing green Kokrajhar clean Kokrajhar.
He has hopeful that Kokrajhar town is getting more attractive looking and clean environment in days to come.
