KOKRAJHAR, JAN 25: Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka has been awarded the best district election officer by the Election Commission of India (ECI) under the category of ‘Best Electoral Practices Award, 2021’ for ‘Innovation Measures’.
She received this award from Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Law and Justice of India in a function held at Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi on the occasion of the National Voters’ Day on January 25, 2022. She won this award for her innovative ideas and strategies in regard to creation and genertaion of mass awareness among the voters along with strategies for the smooth conduct of Assembly Elections, 2021 in Goalpara dist as all her innovative plans and strategies of electioneering resulted higher voting percentage, peaceful, re-poll less election in the dist.
It is worth mentioning that few days back, she also brought laurels to Assam for her innovative ‘GoalMart’ project, which was the brainchild of her innovative mind while she was serving as DC, Goalpara.
Meanwhile, along with other parts of the country, Kokrajhar election district observed the National Voters’ Day with various activities.
On the occasion, pledge taking, distribution of Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) to new 18+ voters, distribution of badges to campus ambassadors and quiz competition among the new voters were organized in the conference hall of District Election Office, Kokrajhar.
The entire programme was held at the initiative of Election Officer, Kokrajhar, Sailen Dutta Das.
