KOKRAJHAR, APRIL 3: A legal awareness on tribal rights was organised at Commerce College auditorium in Kokrajhar on Sunday with day-long programme scheduled.
The legal awareness programme was carried out with special reference to “prevention of SC/ST ATROCITIES act,1989 in sixth scheduled areas”.
The awareness was organised by Bodo National Students Union (BNSU) to create awareness on tribal rights among the tribal council as well indigenous peoples in the state.
Rights activists Raju Deori, tribal leader Bhogeswar Shyam, socal activist Janaklal Basumatary were attended as resource persons in the event.
Deori has emphasised over the tribal rights that are deprived their due rights due to insincerity attitudes from the government.
He said that the tribal communities across the state are deprived their due rights and welfare aspects due to the step motherly attitudes from the government itself.
