Mangalsingh Narzary Passes Away

KOKRAJHAR, DEC 1: Mangalsingh Narzary (65), father of martyr Sujit Narzary of Bhatipara passed away late last evening at Bongaigaon Lower Assam Hospital.

Notably, Narzary was under treatment at the hospital since November 28 last after facing a heart stroke and breathed his last around 8.15 pm late last evening.

Narzary is.a social activist and father of Sujit Narzary, first martyr of Bodoland movement.

The funeral of Narzary was cremated at Kokrajhar crematorium ground after performing rituals amidst presence of villagers.

Chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro visited at his Bhatipara residence today morning and offered floral tribute to the life less body of Narzary.

Boro while extending deep condolence and mourning over the demise of Narzary said that the society today lost a guardian who was father of Sujit Narzary, first martyr of Bodoland movement, with demise of Mangalsingh Narzary.

He said that the Bodo community will remember sacrifice and dedication of martyr Sujit Narzary and his family who sacrificed his life for the caused of Bodoland statehood.

“Having learnt of the sad demise of Mangalsingh Narzary, father of late Sujit Nazary, Bodoland’s first martyr. I visited their Bhatipara residence today to pay my last respects to the departed soul & express my condolences to his family. I pray to the almighty to grant him eternal peace”, Boro added.

Assam cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma expresses his condolences as well deep mourning over his demise.

MLA from Kokrajhar East LAC, Lawrence Islary paid tribute to the body of Narzary.

ABSU president Dipen Boro while extending condolences over the sad demise of Mangalsingh Narzary, said that the greater Bodo society as a whole lost a person who was belonged to the family of first martyr of Bodoland movement, Sujit Narzary. He said that the students union will always remember sacrifice and dedication of martyr Sujit Narzary’s family.

Members from different organisations including All Bodo Students Union, Dularai Bodo Harimu Afad, United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) have extended their deep condolence and mourning and prayed for his eternal peace.

Meanwhile, the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government has declared half holiday beginning from 1 pm today across the BTR districts in respect of demise of Mangalsingh Narzary, father of martyr Sujit Narzary.

All kinds of government offices in BTR districts were remained half closed after 1 pm followed by observation of condolences to pay respect to the demise of Mangalsingh Narzary.

A candle lighting programme was also carried out today evening at various places across the region in memory of Mangalsingh Narzary.

The programme was organised by All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and citizens of the districts.
