Media Advocacy/ Workshop On HIV/AIDS Held In Kokrajhar


KOKRAJHAR, MAR 26: The HIV/AIDS positive cases are reportedly increasing day after day in entire Kokrajhar district since few years and at least four patients have reported expired due to HIV/AIDS related cases in the district.

A district level media advocacy/ workshop on HIV/AIDS Act 2017 was organised at Rup Nath Brahma civil hospital, Kokrajhar on Saturday highlighting about the awareness and advocacy related matters among the media fraternities in Kokrajhar district.

The workshop was organised by district health society in association with district aids control society, Kokrajhar.

Joint director of Health Services Kokrajhar, Dr Jahirul Ahmed, RNB civil hospital Kokrajhar, Dr A S Sarma, district HIV/AIDS control officer Dr Kaushik Das, DLSA representative Rajendra Kumar Prasad were graced as speakers and presented lectures into the subject.

Notably, a total 315 patients are detected HIV/AIDS positive in entire Kokrajhar district and they are taking medical treatment at various hospitals in the district.

The health department and district HIV/AIDS control society are jointly working towards the eradication and preventive measures among the detected patients.

Officer of the district HIV/AIDS control society,Dr Kaushik Das told that the number of HIV/AIDS patients are getting increase day after day in Kokrajhar district.He said that till date the positive active cases of HIV/AIDS have stands at 315 in the entire Kokrajhar district.

He said that the health department and district HIV/AIDS control society are stepping strict step against the HIV/AIDS among the society.

He said that at least four patients have expired in Kokrajhar district due to HIV/AIDS related cases in last three years.
