KOKRAJHAR, APRIL 30: Sensation prevails along the Halang Bazar near Patgaon after unidentified armed miscreants had fired indiscriminately targeting at the UPPL youth office ahead two day of the results counting of Assam assembly elections in Kokrajhar district late Thursday mid night.
The incident took place at Halang Bazar UPPL youth office under Kokrajhar East constituency at around 11:50 PM under Patgaon police outpost in Kokrajhar district.
According to UPPL members at Halang Bazar,a group of three armed unidentified miscreants came and open fired targeting UPPL youth office from a roadside nearly 40 metre’s far that marked office’s wall injuries in the fired where UPPL youth members were sleeping.
The bullets hit the walls of the UPPL youth office marking damages on the sites.
However, no one was reported injuries in the incident.
Three live bullets and two empty cartridges were recovered from the spot.
An FIR was lodged with police against the incident.
A high level team of police led by SP Kokrajhar Rakesh Roushan rushed the spot just after the incident and took stock about the incident.
Roushan told that police administration has started it’s investigation into the incident and expressed his hopeful that involved culprits would identified after a thorough investigation.
Local peoples in the area have expressed their resented over the incident and termed that it was unwanted situation two day ahead of the Assam assembly election results counting.
Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) chief executive member (CEM) Pramod Boro rushed at the bullet firing incident spot today in the early to take stock about the incident.
He was accompanied with BTC executive member Ukil Mushahary, UPPL candidate for Kokrajhar East constituency Lawrence Islary and met party workers and supporters.
He has termed that the attack and bullet firing incident on UPPL party office was a political attack.
He said that the incident was unfortunate for the society besides condemned the incident.
Boro demanded a strict action against the incident and punishment for the involved culprits after a deep investigation into the incident.
He said that the arm’s attacked on UPPL office can’t be tolerated at any costs.
He has urged the district administration and state government for taking a stern step to identify the involved culprits without any delay.
UPPL candidate for Kokrajhar East constituency Lawrence Islary visited at the spot and condemned the bulletin firing incident.
“I condemned such illegal anti social activity and want police department to take immediate action on it”.
Meanwhile,Assam Social welfare minister and BPF candidate for Kokrajhar East constituency, Pramila Rani Brahma expressed her condemnation info bullet firing incident at Halang Bazar late last night. She has strongly condemned the incident and demanded a strict inquiry into to identify the involved culprits.
“It was an unfortunate incident occurred in Kokrajhar on Thursday night ahead two day of the Assam assembly election results counting.It was done by some anti social elements to create chaos among the society”, Brahma said.
She has urged all sections of the society to maintain peace and harmony among the society.
Meanwhile, the Kokrajhar district committee of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has vehemently condemned the act of target firing at UPPL youth camp at Patgaon Halang Bazar, at around 11.55 PM by some miscreants where three rounds of bullets have been recovered at the place of occurrence.
“Despite earnest attempt of ABSU’s establishment of arms and violent free society, this incidence has posed a threat and a sense of insecurity in the mind of people that some untraceable ill motivated group with illegal arms are still active in the region”, a press statement issued to the media by president of Kokrajhar district committee ABSU Kripesh Daimary and secretary Kampa Basumatary said.
The union demand to the police administration to make a free, fair and thorough investigation into this incidence so as to track the culprits involved at an earliest possible and punish them as per law.
