KOKRAJHAR, OCT 5: The newly upgraded Runikhata higher secondary school was ceremonialy inaugurated by Jayanta Basumatary, MLA of Sidli constituency in the presence of Madhab Chandra Chetry, Member of Council Legislative Assembly, Bodoland Territorial Council on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering in a function held under the chairmanship of Satyendra Singh, in-charge principal of Runikhata higher secondary school at their school premises, MLA Jayanta Basumatary said that he was delighted to be the part of inaugural event of the newly upgraded Runikhata higher secondary school. He hoped that the upgradation of this institution from high school to higher secondary school was a gift to all the people of Runikata area, especially to the students. “Now students won’t have to travel far for their higher studies. Because, this will save their extra time as well as expenses for which they had to borne for commuting daily from their homes to their schools located at far distance. He termed it a step closer to better schooling and hoped that this would enhance the number of enrollment of students in the area in the days to come.
It may be stated that a total of 5 high schools in Chirang district which included Subhaijhar High School, Ulubari High School, Makra High School, Gurubhasa High School and Runikhata High School were upgraded to higher secondary schools recently by the education department of state government.
The programme was attended by teachers and students of Runikata higher secondary school, parents of the students and local leading citizens.
