National Press Day Observed in Kokrajhar, Chirang

Kokrajhar, Nov 16: The National Press Day was observed by Kokrajhar Press Club in collaboration with Kokrajhar district administration at Kokrajhar Press Club with a colourful programme.

As per the programme president of Kokrajhar Press Club Preetam Brahma Choudhury hoisted the organisation flag followed by homage to the journalists who have lost their lives by Kokrajhar Press Club Vice-president Mustafa Hussain.

The media persons in the district discussed various problems faced by the working journalist including internal and external threat while doing their duties. A one minute silence was observed in memory of the journalists who are no more in this world.

Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Bhaskar Phukan attended the function as chief guest.  Uttam Brahma, District Programme Manager, National Health Mission, Kokrajhar was the appointed speaker and spoke on the Covid Pandemic and Role of media. DIPRO Kokrajhar TN Bora, Public Relation Officer BTC Someswar Basumatary, media persons from Kokajhar participated in the programme.

The district administration felicitated the media fraternity of the district with “Certificate of appreciation” in recognition of services and contributions in enriching and strengthening the ‘fourth pillar’ of democracy in the district which were handed over by the deputy commissioner.

National Press Day Observed in Kokrajhar, Chirang

Chirang joined the rest of the nation in observing National Press Day. The programme was jointly organised by the District Information and Public Relations Officer (DIPRO), Chirang and Chirang District Press Club (CDPC) at the office premises of DIPRO at Dangagaon Kajalgaon.

A key note address on the theme provided by the Press Council of India ‘Role of media during the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on media’ was delivered by the senior journalist and secretary, Chirang District Press Club Jayanta Debnath in the programme.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Ringkhang Mushahary attended the function as chief guest which was chaired by Amrit Narayan Patgiri. In his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the journalists. He hailed the journalists of Chirang district for maintaining good relationship with the district administration as well as for their tremendous help during the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the district.

The programme was also addressed by Gagan Narzary, DIPRO, Chirang and Abu Bakkar Siddiqui, i/c president, CDPC.
