KOKRAJHAR, SEP 29: Although the dates for the 4th general elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) yet to declare from the election commission in the region,various parties including BPF, UPPL, GSP, BJP, Congress, AIUDF are seeing busy in their campaigning in support of party candidates amidst ongoing COVID-19 pandemic across the four districts of BTC.
BTC election for the 40 member house was referred for indefinite period which was scheduled on 4th April in the wake COVID-19 outbreak across the state. The Governor’s Rule was imposed from 28th April following expiry of term of BPF ruled BTC administration and till date Governor’s Rule has passed over five months in the region.
Due to ongoing Governor’s Rule in BTC council, citizens in the region are facing severe hardships and deprived their due rights and welfare aspects.
BPF party leader and party candidates are getting busy in campaigning to woo the common voters ahead the council elections.
BPF party is contesting in 37 seats of the 40 member house of BTC Legislative Assembly and expressed it’s hopeful that BPF party is winning over 25 seats and forming the 4th consecutive term with winning majority seats in BTC administration.
UPPL is contesting in 40,GSP 40, BJP 26, Congress 13, AIUDF 7 in the ensuing BTC council elections.
BPF candidate for Dotma constituency Prakash Basumatary has expressed his hopeful that his candidature is getting massive support from all sections of the society in his constituency and winning is clear cut in the ensuing BTC council elections. He said that BPF party was working for all round development and welfare. He has admitted that there are several areas which have been witnessed of erosion by rivers under Dotma constituency. He said that some parts of the river eroded areas were constructed with protection measures from concern department from BTC administration and state election in the area. He informed that he himself also devoted and contributed helping hand towards river eroded river bank peoples at Sikarbil and Saraguri with cutting cannals to divert the Gongia River. He also promises that he would dedicate deep for the empowerment of youth and women among the society if voted to the power in the council elections. He has urged citizens of the Dotma constituency to devote more in being healthy society and integration among communities.
He has claimed that citizens from all walks of life are coming forward to vote in favour of BPF party candidates to get more development and offer services.
Basumatary said that there is no candidate who will face tough contest with him in Dotma constituency in the council elections.
He has demanded early conduct of BTC election within October month through the structural mists of COVID-19 protocol.
On the other hand, UPPL president and candidate for Kaklabari constituency, Pramod Boro addressed an election campaign at Kamar Dwisa in Baksa district on Tuesday. Boro said that UPPL party is getting support from different communities in the ensuing BTC council elections. He said that citizens are voting for favour of UPPL party for Parivartan and development services in the region. He has accused of BPF ruled BTC administration has indulged massive corruption and anomalies in their 17 year ruled in council administration. He alleged that BPF party has failed to work for the welfare and development of the common masses due to insincerity attitudes towards common citizens.
Boro has promised for good governance to work massive development and welfare services for all sections of the communities if voted to the power in the council elections.
He said that through the BTR accord implementation spirit, citizens are getting opportunities for more development and welfare aspects in the region as BTR accord has been paving the way healthy development.
He has expressed his confidence that his party is getting absolute majority in the council elections for getting massive Parivartan and development services. He has claimed that common voters are in favour of UPPL party candidates for good governance and Parivartan.
He has the state government and election commission to take bold initiative to conduct council elections through the maitaining COVID-19 protocols.
