PM Modi launches Rs 100 commemorative coin in honour of Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia

NEW DELHI, OCT 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Rs 100 commemorative coin in honour of Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia today, in a virtual ceremony of her birthday. The special coin is minted by Finance Minister and released this morning. The Rs 100 coin has the portrait of Vijaya Raje Scindia in its back. The family members and relatives of Scindia also joined the ceremony.

PM Modi said at the virtual ceremony, ” It’s my good fortune that  I got this opportunity to launch Rs 100 commemorative coin of Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia. If there was no COVID-19 pandemic today, this ceremony program could have been more colourful and tremendous”. Rajmata was also one of the members among the prominent leaders who indicated the right direction to lead India. And she dedicated her life for the future of the nation and renounced all her happiness for the future generations of the country he added.

Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia was born on October 11, in 1919 at Sagar Madhya Pradesh and died on January 25, in 2001. She was a prominent Indian political personality popularly known as “Rajmata of Gwalior”. Rajmata  Vijaya Raje Scindia was “a witness to India’s key political events from independence struggle to decades after the country’s independence”, PM Modi said.
