Kokrajhar, Sept 27: The All Bodo Students Union expresses their deep pain over the judgement of lifetime imprisonment by the Gauhati High Court on former Chairman of NDFB Ranjan Daimary and six others members of the outfit.
In a Press statement issued to the media today, Absu president Dipen Boro and general secretary Khanindra Basumatary said “We thought that the judgement would be positive and Ranjan Daimary would get release from the jail. But the judgement of the hon’ble Gauhati high Court disheartened us. The Absu leadership said they still have full hope on the judiciary system.
“As Ranjan Daimary is also one of the key Signatory of the Bodo Peace Accord
signed on 27th January, 2020, the entire region of Bodoland and Assam now fully
peaceful due to the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord with four factions of NDFB, ABSU & UBPO. Keeping in mind it would be the significant reason for which the Hon’ble Gauhati High Court could released Ranjan Daimary and six other in the interest of Peace and tranquillity in the region, they said.
They stated that the ABSU will take positive role to discuss on the matter with the Union government and State government for his early release from Jail. The Union also will discuss with the former leaders of the organisation and family members for further judicial process to the higher authority, the release read.
