Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ kick started in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar, Sept 12: To ensure adequate nutritional diet to the pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls and children, the ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ or ‘National Nutrition Month’ initiative, as a part of the Poshan Abhiyan, kick started in Kokrajhar Thursday.

This year the theme for POSHAN Maah is “Identification and tracking of children suffering Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM)”.

As part of the inauguration of POSHAN Maah, a plantation drive for promotion of POSHAN Vatika (Nutri-Gardens) was carried out through plantation of nutrition plant like amla, guava, mango etc. at Dotma ICDS project in presence of Bhawani Prasad Sharma, Secretary of Social Welfare, BTC and District Social Welfare officer Gunindra Talukdar . Masks were also distributed to Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs).

“POSHAN Abhiyaan(National Nutrition Mission), the month September is celebrated as “Rashtriya POSHAN Maah” since the inception of the programme. Therefore, this year too an initiative has been taken to celebrate the same with minimal activities despite COVID-19 emergent situation”, said district coordinator POSHAN Abhiyan Nishani Narzary.
