Rural Sports Activities Organised To Celebrate Amthisuwa In Kokrajhar


KOKRAJHAR, JUN 22:  Stepping to create sporting amusement among the rural citizens, a friendly football match and Kabbadi game for women was organised today in connection with the celebration of Amthisuwa (Ambuvashi) festival at Udangshri Club playground in Kokrajhar district.

The seasonal Amthisuwa (Ambuvashi) festival celebration begins from today across the state.

The Bodo community celebrates the Amthisuwa festival for three day every year beginning from 7th day of Ashar month of the year and makes merry making among the peoples of their respective areas.

The Kanthalguri Village society under Fakiragram police station of Kokrajhar district has been celebrating the Amthisuwa festival every year and accordingly today organised a friendly football match and Kabbadi game to create sporting enthusiastic moment among the coming up generations.

Both the games created sporting amusements and entertainment among the spectators on the occasion.

The football match was held between married men (married) and non-married (youth) where the match was draw with 4-4 till game time.

In the Kabbadi, Thengpakri group defeated Gambari group 3-2 sets of points.

A tug of war competition was also held where married men beat the non-married group with 2-0 sets of points.

All winner teams were given away prize money besides offering a light preetibhoj on the occasion.

“The rural sport events like football, Kabbadi, tug of war was organised to while celebrating the Amthisuwa festival among the villagers which has attracted the spectators.We are celebrating the Amthisuwa festival every year on the 7th day of Ashar month”, said village headman Ukhundwl Brahma.
