KOKRAJHAR, NOV 30: Police in Kokrajhar have apprehended six persons for involved with attacked on UPPL party member and supporters at Talitbari that left 12 persons severe injuries ahead the BTC council elections in Kokrajhar district.
According to source, at-least 12 members of UPPL party were received serious injuries due to reportedly attacked by BPF supporters late last evening under Debargaon constituency in Kokrajhar district ahead the BTC council elections.
The incident took place at Talitbari near Simbargaon under Debargaon constituency in Kokrajhar district that left several injuries of UPPL party member and supporters due to attacked by BPF member and supporters.
The injuries were immediately rushed the local hospital and RNB civil hospital Kokrajhar. Two of the injuries were said to be critical condition.
An FIR has been lodged with police in this regard. Police in Kokrajhar have apprehended six persons for involved with the incident. “Police started it’s investigation into incident”, said Rakesh Roushan, SP Kokrajhar.
UPPL candidate for Debargaon constituency Buddadev Mushahary strongly condemned the incident and termed it was an unfortunate incident ahead the BTC council elections.
He has alleged that BPF party having fear of defeat in the council elections, party member and supporters are trying to capture the support in Debargaon constituency and accordingly, attacked UPPL party member and supporters on Sunday evening which left several persons injuries.
He has demanded strict investigation into incident and punished the involved the culprits after a thorough identification.
He said the the council elections must be conducted in free and fair in the region.
Mushahary expressed his hopeful that his candidature is getting last laugh from the constituency as well as UPPL party is winning majority seats across the four districts of the Bodoland Territorial Council.
He said that this time, he is defeating BPF president Hagrama Mohilary in Debargaon through the massive supports of citizens in Kokrajhar district.
Earlier, UPPL candidate Mushahary also inaugurated the election steering sub committee office at Alangi Bazar under Debargaon constituency amidst presence of huge party supporters.
Meanwhile, BPF party has denied their party member’s involvement with the incident under Debargaon constituency in Kokrajhar district on Sunday evening.
“BPF party condemned the incident and urged to maintain peace and integrity among the society”, said a senior BPF party leader.
