Kokrajhar, Mar 4: The State Child Protection Day, 2022 was observed in different parts of Kokrajhar amongst the children with various programmes.
The North East Research and Social Work Networking (NERSWN) supported by Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiative observed the day among the children at Upendrapur in Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district. An rally was carried out from Upendrapur to Lalachor village to the message to create awareness about Child marriage, child trafficking, child labour, substance abuse, school dropout etc. The NERSWN also observed the child protection day at Nayekgaon Anujuli village among the school children.
The District Child Protection Unit Kokrajhar in collaboration with State Child Protection Society Assam observed the day at Girls College, Kokrajhar auditorium. Over a hundred children participated in the programme.
Principal of Kokrajhar Girls College Azizur Rahman inaugurated the programme.
Chairperson Child Welfare Committee Kokrajhar Malati Rani Narzary, Kokrajhar DLSA Secretary Boloram Chetry, members of Juvenile Justice Board and Child Welfare committee Kokrajhar attended as guests and spoke on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Chairperson Child Welfare Committee Kokrajhar Malati Rani Narzary made every person to pledge to always work for the protection of Children against all forms of abuse and ensure their rights.
The Nedan Foundation also observed the child protection day among the children of Destination Girls Home in Kokrajhar with various programmes.
