Kokrajhar, Aug 22: Three dacoits (armed robbers) trying to loot a bank were killed in an encounter with police at Bhotgaon in Kokrajhar district today today wee morning hours.
Briefing media persons at Kokrajhar SP office today, Special ADGP and BTR IGP incharge L R Bishnoi and Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Prateek Thube said three armed dacoits were killed in an encounter with police this wee morning hours when they were trying to loot the Allahabad Bank at Bhotgaon in Kokrajhar.
Bishnoi said the dacoits numbering about 5-6 have come to loot the Allahabad Bank situated at Bhotgaon in Kokrajhar. The police, getting prior information, had laid an ambush in the area. Around 2.30 am, the robbers were on way to the bank when the police team intercepted them and asked to surrender, the dacoits instead tried to run by firing at the policemen. The police in retaliation fired at them in which the three dacoits were seriously injured. They were brought to Kokrajhar Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital where the doctors declared them dead.
The other dacoits managed to escape taking advantage of darkness, he said.
The three deceased persons are identified as Sirajdullah Sheikh (26) of South Salmara, Aminul Haque (27) and Monuar Hussain (29), both of Goalpara. Sirajdullah Sheik (26) of South Salmara
Two 7.65 mm pistols along with a magazine, 8 live rounds and 6 empty cartigages, one glamour bike, one auto rickshaw, one oxygen cylinder, one LPG cylinder, cutting torch, pipes were recovered from their possession.
Thube said combine search operation is going on to arrested the other members of the gang.
