KOKRAJHAR, JUN 2: Police in Kokrajhar have seized two ladden trucks for carrying illegally Tobbaco along with apprehended four persons at Kokrajhar town late night.
Based on an information about the carrying Tobbaco, a police team of Kokrajhar led by additional SP (headquarters) Kokrajhar, Sutjit Sing Panesar conducted a search operation on Tuesday evening along the Kokrajhar town and able to detect the two trucks which were bound for Nagaon from West Bengal in which Tobbaco was smuggling by black traders in trucks, bearing registration no. AS26DC-0620, AS25EC-9578.
Police brought the trucks to the police station for verification and later found that there was no proper valid documents/ vouchers while carry-on the Tobbaco.
Police arrested four persons who have been identified as Mizanur Ali (27), Roshidul Sheik(27), Aminur Haque (23) and Joynul Islam (30) of Bilashipara in Dhubri district.
The market value of the seized Tobbaco would be approximately INR 4 lakhs.
An FIR has been lodged with Kokrajhar PS in this regard, registered case no.411/2021, under section 188/420/370/411/369/270/34, R/W section 7(2) of the COTPA Act, 2003 and R/W section 51(b) The DM Act 2005.
The trucks had been coming for smuggling the Tobbaco without any valid voucher while carrying the Tobbaco.
Police administration has been initiating strict step against the Tobbaco and Drugs smuggling in the district.
Officer in-charge of Kokrajhar police station, Dipak Saikia informed the seized of Tobbaco carrying in two trucks.He said that the market value of seized Tobbaco would be approximately 4 lakhs.
