Union Home Minister Amit Shah Visits Residence of Maharaja Ananta Roy at Chirang

KOKRAJHAR, FEB 11: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday visited the residence of Maharaja Ananta Rai at Chatipur, Dhaligaon Chirang. As Maharaja Ananta Roy, the founder of the Greater Coochbehar People’s Association, has a special political influence in North Bengal, West Bengal. Amit Shah, Union Minister for Home Affairs, had come to call on Ananta Ray to get support from him in the forthcoming West Bengal Assembly elections.

Coochbehar MP Nishith Pramanik, Assam Education, Finance, Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP state president Ranjit Dass accompanied the Union Minister. Ananta Roy has informed that they discussed about political issues of Koch Rajbongshis and various demands made by the Greater Coochbehar People’s Association of Coochbehar.

Ananta Ray also told the media, ‘Good days are coming for all Koch Rajbongshi community as in a meeting of BJP to be held in Coochbehar today, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah will announce a package for all Koch Rajbongshis’, During the visit of union minister Shah at Ananta Roy’s residence, Nirmal Roy, President, Namita Barman, Secretary, Paresh Barman, Office Secretary, Dhananjay Ray, Cultural Secretary,  Assistant Secretaries Mithun Barman and  Assistant Secretary of Greater Coochbehar People’s Association were present.
