UPPL Will Extend Support To BJP Candidates In Municipality Board Elections

KOKRAJHAR, FEB 25: The ruling United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) party in Bodoland Territorial Region has said that the UPPL party is extending support to the alliance partner BJP party candidates in the upcoming Municipality Board elections in the state.

In an interview with reporters in Kokrajhar today, UPPL MLA (Sidli LAC) and UPPL party in-charge of Kokrajhar district, Jayanta Basumatary told that the UPPL party has decided to extend support to the ruling partner BJP party candidates in the scheduled municipality board elections in the state.

He informed that the UPPL party has not fielded any candidates in the municipality board elections. He said that the UPPL party was working with dedicated towards the welfare and integration of the society since it’s inception.

He informed that the UPPL party has been forming new committees of the district committees across the BTR districts to make strengthening the party.

He has announced that Kokrajhar district committee of UPPL party was formed with Kokrajhar East MLA Lawrence Islary as president and Suraj Mashahary and Amulya Sutradhar as general secretaries.

Meanwhile, a general meeting of the Kokrajhar district committee of UPPL party was held at Banargaon community hall in Kokrajhar today.

The meeting discussed deeply on the uplift and development of the party affairs and prepared necessary strategies for strengthening the developmental activities which was chaired by Bidyadhar Brahma Choudhury, president of the Kokrajhar district committee of UPPL party.

Members from different six block committees of the UPPL party participated the meeting that saw a good discussion over the party and organisational upliftment affairs.

Islary said that he has been emphasizing for bringing the properly implementation of all clauses of BTR accord (Bodoland Territorial Region) as governments also expressing their well gestures towards the implementation of the accord clauses.

He has said that the UPPL party has been stepping to make deeply strengthening the party and organisational affairs and hopeful that the UPPL party would be able to win all six constituencies under Kokrajhar district in near future.

He has urged the party member and supporters to be dedicated while building an integrated environment among the society.

Among others, BTC MCLA Madhav Chandra Chetry, ex BTC MCLA Jyotirindra Brahma, Chirang district UPPL president Nirmal Brahma, Bijni district UPPL president Phanindra Boro were prominent attendees in the programme.
