World Blood Donor Day Observed In Kokrajhar


Kokrajhar, June 14: Today is World Blood Donor day. Along with the other parts of the world and India, the World Blood Donar day was observed at Rupnath Brahma Civil hospital in Kokrajhar.

On the occasion, at over 40 individuals including CRPF jawans, SSB jawans, doctors, health workers and local youths donated blood.

Dr Ratan Ramchiary, incharge of Kokrajhar Blood Bank, RNB Civil Hospital informed that more than 40 unit blood were donated today. Emphasizing the positive impact of voluntary blood donors on national health systems, he said World Blood Donor Day is celebrated annually to raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion.

Stating that donating blood is a noble thing as it saves someone lives, he said every individual should donate their blood and save a life.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Central Institution of Technology Kokrajhar, BTR Assam has observed World Blood Donor Day in its campus by taking pledge, awareness campaign and also by donating blood. World Blood Donor Day is observed every year 14 June under various themes. This year it is observed under the slogan “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives”.

It is an opportunity to spread the message of blood donation to every individual by the NSS Volunteers in its surrounding. The CIT-NSS Volunteers came out in large numbers and joyfully took part in spreading awareness campaign in the surrounding about the blood donation. They also took pledge stating that they will make relentless efforts so that no life is lost around them due to shortage of blood.
