Kokrajhar, July 30: The World Day Against Trafficking in Persons was observed in Kokrajhar today with various day long program.
The Nedan Foundation, a Kokrajhar based NGO celebrated the day among the traffic survivors with the theme ‘Victim’s voices led the way’.
As part of the celebration, a Caravan rally was carried out which started from BTC Secretariat gate and travel to different parts of Kokrajhar district creating awareness on child rights.
Chairperson of Nedan Foundation Digambar Narzary said the main objectives of the Caravan rally is create mass awareness on the child rights among the people and make the community report it to the existing child helpline numbers ‘1098, 181 and 100 in case of any child related case and children are protected.
He said the team will visit different parts of Kokrajhar district and send social messages for social change. He stated it is the responsibility of each and every citizen of the society to protect the rights of the children.
Nedan Foundation has so far rescued more than 11,000 persons from different places across the country from trafficking and rendering humanity services at their office since 2004 till date.
Chairperson of Nedan Foundation Digambar Narzary said that the human trafficking incident must be stopped to bring a healthy society.
” On the occasion of World Day Against Trafficking in persons with the theme of Victims’ Voices Lead the Way. Nedan Foundation launched the caravan rally to reach out 50 thousands population on issues on ending violence against women and children. Lending solidarity with world to make World Free of Trafficking in Persons.
The young boys rescued and restored back with families are taking the lead of today’s Caravan Rally with Covid guidelines”, Narzary added.
Meanwhile, the NERSWN NGO also observed the world day against the trafficking at Bishmuri with a befitting programme scheduled.
Hundreds of youths have a human chain against the human trafficking among the society and urged the society to stand united against the crimes on women and girls in the state.
” Human beings are not for sale. Youths are the future of the state”, said a youth on the occasion.
