Kokrajhar, May 31: The World No-Tobacco Day was observed at Swami Yogananda Giri College, Sakti Ashram in Kokrajhar to create awareness on the adverse effects of tobacco.
Organised by District Tobacco Control Cell Kokrajhar and Assam Care Care Foundation, a rally against the use of tobacco and to spread awareness on the ill-effects of tobacco was carried out. Students raised slogans against tobacco consumption and highlighted the ill effects of it through posters to create awareness among people. The students also took an oath to refrain from consuming tobacco.
Later an awareness meeting was held among the students where the present scenario of drug-infested youth were discussed and also spoke on the need to eradicate drugs and motivated students to take the pledge of not letting tobacco spoil their lives.
District TB Nodal Officer Dr Kaushik Das, secretary of Kokrajhar district legal services authority Boloram Kshetry, attended the program and delivered a speech. The programme was also attended by Dotma circle officer asmita Bora, Ex-Principal of Swami Yogananda Giri College Pradip Roy among others.
